“You know what? I think it just got a little easier out here for a pimp.” – Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart’s comment at the Oscars was accurate: a song valorizing pimps’ lives mainstreams them as culturally hip. But few are saying anything at all about the lives of the women and kids they beat, rape, and exploit-to-death.

Today, the Black Pimp has replaced the Black Panther as role model. “Gangsta pimpology” in the USA permits the formerly colonized/enslaved man to vent his fury on the women and girls of his community. The image of the cold, in-charge pimp with his stable of “ho’s” has been accurately described as “toxic cultural product” that perpetrates ongoing harm (Abu-Jamal, M. (2001) Stolen Culture, https://awol.objector.org/mumia/stolenculture.html).

Before I post the words to the song about pimping that won the Oscar in 2006, here are some words from the brilliant actor, rapper, and performance artist Sarah Jones:

Title: your revolution – Sarah Jones

your revolution
your revolution will not happen between these thighs
your revolution will not happen between these thighs
the real revolution
ain’t about booty size
the Versaces you buys
or the Lexus you drives
and though we’ve lost Biggie Smalls
your Notorious revolution
will never allow you to lace no
lyrical douche in my bush
your revolution will not be you
killing me softly with Fugees
your revolution ain’t gon’ knock me up
without no ring and produce little future MCs
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs
your revolution
will not find me in the
backseat of a Jeep with LL
hard as hell
ya know, doin’ it & doin’ it & doin’ it well
ya know, doin’ it & doin’ it & doin’ it well
your revolution will not be you
smackin’ it up, flippin’ it, or rubbin’ it down
nor will it take you downtown or humpin’ around
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs
your revolution will not have me singin’
ain’t no nigger like the one I got
your revolution will not be you
sending me for no drip drip VD shot
your revolution will not involve me feeling your nature rise
or helping you fantasize
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs
and no, my Jamaican brother, your revolution
will not make you feel boombastic and really fantastic
have you groping in the dark for that rubber wrapped in plastic
you will not be touching your lips to my triple dip of
french vanilla butter pecan chocolate deluxe
or having Akinyele’s dream
a six-foot blowjob machine
you wanna subjugate your queen;
think I’ma put it in my mouth
just ’cause you made a few bucks
please brotha please!
your revolution will not be me tossing my weave
making believe I’m some caviar-eating, ghetto mafia clown
or me givin’ up my behind just so I can get signed
or maybe have somebody else write my rhymes?
I’m Sarah Jones, not Foxy Brown
your revolution makes me wonder, where could we go
if we could drop the empty pursuit of props and the ego
we’d revolt back to our Roots, use a little Common Sense, on a Quest
to make love De La Soul, no pretense…but
your revolution will not be you flexing your little sex and status
to express what you feel;
your revolution will not happen between these thighs
will not happen between these thighs
will not be you shaking and me faking between these thighs
because the revolution, that’s right, I say the real revolution, you
know the real revolution, when it finally comes, it’s gon’ be real.

On the other hand, here are the reactionary words to the Oscar winning song,
It’s hard out here for a pimp:
You know it’s hard out here for a pimp (you ain’t knowin)
When he tryin to get this money for the rent (you ain’t knowin)
For the Cadillacs and gas money spent (you ain’t knowin)
[1] Because a whole lot of bitches talkin shit (you ain’t knowin)
[2] Will have a whole lot of bitches talkin shit (you ain’t knowin)
[Djay]
In my eyes I done seen some crazy thangs in the streets
Gotta couple hoes workin on the changes for me
But I gotta keep my game tight like Kobe on game night
Like takin from a ho don’t know no better, I know that ain’t right
Done seen people killed, done seen people deal
Done seen people live in poverty with no meals
It’s fucked up where I live, but that’s just how it is
It might be new to you, but it’s been like this for years
It’s blood sweat and tears when it come down to this shit
I’m tryin to get rich ‘fore I leave up out this bitch
I’m tryin to have thangs but it’s hard fo’ a pimp
But I’m prayin and I’m hopin to God I don’t slip, yeah
[Chorus]
[Djay]
Man it seems like I’m duckin dodgin bullets everyday
Niggaz hatin on me cause I got, hoes on the tray
But I gotta stay paid, gotta stay above water
Couldn’t keep up with my hoes, that’s when shit got harder
North Memphis where I’m from, I’m 7th Street bound
Where niggaz all the time end up lost and never found
Man these girls think we prove thangs, leave a big head
They come hopin every night, they don’t end up bein dead
Wait I got a snow bunny, and a black girl too
You pay the right price and they’ll both do you
That’s the way the game goes, gotta keep it strictly pimpin
Gotta have my hustle tight, makin change off these women, yeah
[Chorus]

  1. Why isn’t the web filled with outrage at the Academy Awards giving Best Song to “It’s Hard Out There For A Pimp”?
Glorifying sexual slavery and subjugation of women is now so acceptible it merits an Oscar?
Why am I roaming the internet to find others who are disgusted and enraged by this and finding nothing????

  2. What Next? Should we look forward to a song called “Rape is fun” or how about “Kill all the bitches.”
This disgusts me. It ain’t nearly as hard out there for a pimp as it should be!

  3. Hi Melissa,
Congrats on your kewl blog and especially poignant tag. Good work. ; )
I got this email about the recent lament about how hard the poor, poor pimps have got it out there:
“Nikki I think one problem for me is that this is the wrong song to fight over. Snoop Dogg is way way worse. He is a straightup rapist and woman killer. this song is about a pimp who’s trying to get out of pimping. I like what Jon Stewart said: “You know what? I think it just got a little easier out here for a pimp.” – Jon Stewart, Host of Academy Awards, March 5, 2006″
    This was my response:
I’m a little surprised at the lack of protest over this as well. That song was about making prostitution hip for the Oscars. He’s gonna try to get rich before he gets up an out this b!tch? Well, by the time he gets rich off the b!tch she’ll be physically destroyed, but all that is invisiblized cause they don’t really care what happens to the woman, neither does the left or they’d be criticizing it from a perspective of class analysis and against an exploiter. A song at the Oscars using the word “b!tch” when they won’t allow anyone to criticize the war, or say anything but thank you in their acceptance speeches?
Yeah, Snoop doggie might be worse, but a bunch of honkies didn’t get him into the Oscars with a really sh!tty racist song that if it did meet the appropriate standards for the best song then what a f*cking pathetic statement, anyway. I’m not into keeping up with The Academy. But it seems to me that the song was dragged out and used to insinuate a message about men’s sexual access to and exploitation of women that was swaddled in a racist wrap during an otherwise *decidedly* *bland* *non-controversial* ceremony.
The song invisibilizes how hard it is to be a hooker; and with their stupid dancing and humping on the women, and them out on the stroll, this was no song about the struggle to get out of being an exploitive “nigga” stereotype. They mainstreamized prostitution like heroin chic was sent out to middle Amerika. That pro-pimp song rolled out the red carpet making one step closer to a time when Snoop Dogg just might walk off with his own little golden boy. Like Jon Stewart said, it just got a little easier out here for a pimp meaning, I presume, that being a pimp just got way, way more acceptable in the culture. For the anti-prostitution movement, this is precisely the place to start including bringing in Snoop Dogg for criticism and perspective.–Nikki Craft

  4. Male supremacy is unapologetic in Hollywood now. In the past few days I see the Vanity Fair cover with two naked women who are “powerful movie stars”, and the third “star” who was supposed to be on the cover is booted because she didn’t want to get naked. And male supremacist Jon Stewart thinks it’s funny that pimps are finally being given an easy ride.
The racist part is they pretend this Hollywood finally “giving props” to a black voice.
I have met vile racists in the South who love the MTV-style rap. Because it perfectly fits in with their world view of blacks as violent criminals and drug pushers.
But one place black and white men will make peace is over a woman’s body.
There is no question: Pimps are the king batterers. They cowardly beat women who are smaller than them. They get them strung out on cocaine, crack and heroin. They strike fear in their hearts, they use words to break them. The same words that they hop and bop to in “socially consious” hollywood. Those jolly bowtied male supremacists dance on the powdered skulls of millions of miserable women and children.

  5. >>Wait I got a snow bunny, and a black girl too
You pay the right price and they’ll both do you

  6. Yes, I saw the Oscars. Yes, I was annoyed and pissed off by the whole display. And yes my jaw hit the floor when 36 Mafia performed and won. I felt betrayed. I felt hated. And I wanted to slap the shit out of all the rich KNEE GROWS the camera panned over grinning in the audience. I could hardly bring myself to watch it but I did catch the interpretive dance of black hoes and pimps on stage as they performed. 36 Mafia actually made another song for the film Hustle & Flow called “Whoop that Trick” which basically advocates beating a “hoe” with a bat to keep her in line.
But not ALL Africans Americans are celebrating it as “progress.” Some of us are aware. Some of us know better, expect more from our folk, reject stereotypes and all forms of domination and exploitation. And dare to hold each other accountable for what we do with our power, what little power we have.
But I think most of us are rejoicing. The grand majority of us can’t help but be easily mesmerized and seduced by white attention and approval. Hustle & Flow was directed by a white man. And yet we embrace it our own. Why? Because it shows a side of blackness that even black folks celebrate over
our infinite possibilities as a people. We have internalized our own demise. We have allowed white supremacist capitalist patriarchy to swallow our minds whole!
Queen Latifah is an idiot. I ran out to see her last movie (and was actually foolish enough to encourage others to do so as well) because she’s one of the few full-figured African American women in Hollywood trying to breakdown stereotypes about us but after her comments at the Oscars I wont be supporting her career any longer. I made a shit list of every KNEE GROW in the audience I could recognize applauding. John Singleton was on it from way back!
Yes, I saw Crash. I thought it was a BAD movie, poorly made, celebrity driven. I actually had no idea what it was about when I saw it. In addition it had a very user friendly, non-threatening message about prejudice. It did not deal with white skin privilege. It did not deal with SYSTEMS of oppression. It’s message was we are all racists. We all hurt one another. We all have changing to do. Bullshit! Things are not equal. 400 plus years of genocide, colonization, slavery, and globalization can’t be summed up as “prejudice.” Oppressed people have every right to our hatred.
Plus I can’t stand Thandie Newton so anything she’s in is tainted in my book. She always plays the black woman that ends up in bed with the white man. In EVERY FILM. Even in Crash! She was supposed to be the sassy conscious upper class trophy wife of Terence Howard but still she manages to embrace a “white hero” in the end. I can’t stand her!
I saw Hustle & Flow (on video). I could not bring myself to feel pity for a pimp, even a black pimp “with heart.” Just as I can’t bring myself to feel anything but a burning hatred for Thomas Jefferson or any of our slave holding founding fathers, my radical black feminist heart will always seek justice not for the pimp but for the prostitute. And this award shows not just hated women are but how DOUDLY HATED black women are. We have NO SANCTUARY. Our men have sold us out to the HIGHEST BIDDER!
Hip Hop betrays black women once again. My position on hip hop is quite clear. I don’t buy it, listen to it, dance to it, defend it. I COULD GIVE A FLYING FUCK IF BLACK MALE RAPPERS ARE STEREOTYPED ABOUT THEIR TEETH. If rappers don’t want to be asked about their teeth don’t make songs about your teeth! I have no sympathy. I often talk to sisters who defend hip hop. I always listen to their arguments for the Sainthood of Tupac and Biggie and then ask simply. Do you think hip hop would defend you the way your
defending it? Do you think hip hop would argue in defense of your right as a woman not to be stereotyped? HELL NO!
So yes, I hate hip hop because hip hop hates me. Yes, and that includes the so-called positive conscious stuff. I used to listen to it until I realized that by supporting Mos Def or Kanye West because they not Jay Z or Snoop Dogg I’m also supporting an industry that protects and enriches the pockets of assholes like Jay Z, Snoop and 36 Mafia.

  7. I can’t believe “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” won. well, actually, i can, but the winner should really be “It’s even Harder Out here for a prostitute.” why are pimps sympathetic characters? and just because a pimp is sometimes black does not make him NOT a slave master, cause that’s what they are. they make money from the labor and bodies of their slaves, and if the prostitute/slave doesn’t do what they want, then the pimp beats them.
i would like to smack a pimp around. Hard. when prostitutes start beating up and stealing back all their money from the pimps, and selling the pimpses asses out on the street to gross men (all the ones who think sexual abuse is okay if its commercial). THEN it would be hard out there for a pimp.

  8. well i agre with what folk have said thus far. the cultual norms just keep on sinkin’ to ever new lows. i didn’t hear about this song until today and i think such trash should not be passed off as art. what happened to the hip hop of the late 80’s, early 90’s. PE, KRS1, Arrested Development, et al. they had a more positive thing going.
i personally think that the record industry played it that way because chuck d and his ilk were educating people to their history and possibility.
ironically, those same rappers who glorify pimpin’ are being prostituted by the record companies.
it’s amazing how the pimp/ho stereotypes have entered the popular culture. i am a third grade teacher and often hear my students admiring pimps. i ask them what they think it’s about and they see someone who’s in control. i try to explain what it is really about, but the pull of popular culture is great.

  9. The pimp culture is something I laugh at.
What exactly is the pimp doing? He is not the one working—by the sweat of his back.
Pimps don’t care for the “hos” they employ. No health care, nice clothes (clothing implying the ho is not working), a car (never seen a ho driving a new car!), no retirement plan, no worker’s comp and certainly no vacation/sick time.
Essentially some worthless male (not to be confused with a man) sucks money from a low esteemed/non self respecting female and skates by with the money she earns while beating her and using her for sex.
Wow! What a lifestyle. I am sure that’s why people died during the Civil Rights movement and slaves paid for their work in blood, for people to run around “pimping”. What a nice compliment for all those who were murdered, lynched, beaten, shackled, and abused for 400 years!
I will be glad to see the end of this craze. I can’t believe its held up this long. Where things got off track is beyond me. I think my generation is simply lost. They have no idea who has paid the price for their privileges. And certainly, America is not perfect but our generation doesn’t see the chance we have to do anything we want. If opposition obstructs, we have the right to sue for discrimination. No one can turn us away with a colored only sign. (This does not mean racism does not exist.)
We can make life better. Getting our heads out of the rap fantasy bubble is going to take a lot of work. I will admit, I have fallen for the songs and dances of our times. However, as my teacher once said, “you’ve got to get out of bed sometime.” If sex is the only motivator of power and worth in the Black Community, we are headed for more troubled times.
Young men and women should take their lives more seriously and stop trying to gyrate into oblivion. Pretty soon, it will be AIDS and childhood resentment that will bring African Americans into annihilation.
I am saddened and disturbed by the images I see. I wonder if people truly believe they are worth nothing and will never be anything. Why must people talk to their children like trash and except them to be perfect? Beat them as a demonstration of their power with the misguided belief the child will be able to deal with people later in life? (If you pick up the belt before you talk, how will your child handle conflict? Is this the only response?) Allowing kids to listen and dance to themes beyond their years but expect them to be virtuous young adults?
I don’t get it. I don’t know where to begin. But I know after a certain point in your life, shaking your a$$ and humping the ground gets old. You will want someone you can talk to and relate to other than in the bedroom for those brief hardcore minutes.
Black inventors created such works as the refrigerator, air conditioning, the iron and ironing board but they were never given the celebrated credit they deserved. If they could see my generation, they might be glad they are six feet under. This is the saddest bunch of youngsters and everyday someone disconnects from their self esteem/worth/respect to become some stereotype.
That’s sad. And that’s why a song about a Pimp can win an Oscar. I guess the Three Six Mafia have a lot to be proud of.

  10. Wow…. so I left the states only to see an Oscar go to a rap group being awarded for singing a song about pimpin women and I’ve had numerous debates about this issue already and my feeling about it is very clear the corporations promoting this crap and the idiots who are puppeted by them are all helping the country go straight into hell.. regardless of the fact that this pimpin lifestyle is real life for some men around the world, it still doesn’t help to award a song like that at time when people are living without regard to true value of life and respect towards each other.
I wasn’t going to write anything as I am consummed with work but I have to now as I am seething angry after receiving word about this rapper Bubba Sparx’s. An untalented fat ass gets his media and Virgin record conglomerates to be a part of and back this porno based web site advertising all types of girls and women’s ass to promote his corny song Ms. new Booty…. It’s all good to have a song to dance to, I am not mad at that aspect.. art is art and everyone has the right to express themselves, their desire, their hardship, or life through it, but when we start pushing it, forcing it, down peoples throats as “cool” there’s a problem especially when it is corporations who are ensuring that the wrong messages are being sent out to mainstream society because it keep them in business.
This is all one big circle of “I don’t give a fuck about society or your kids.” The people making sure these songs and acts are famous are the very people paying Payola dollars and advertising dollars to keep profit stream rolling in from people who can’t seem to open their eyes and look through the veil.
It’s only a matter of time before everything I am researching about sex trafficking lands right at your door steps with your own kids, daughters and sons being kidnapped, raped, and pimped because of this trivial mentality towards women and sexuality in itself.
I’m a man who loves T & A but the music and ads aren’t even classy anymore; its just stupid raunchy shit. Classless, low brow- try to grab your attention- without being creative bullshit! Corporate America will stoop to all lows to make money and they will have no problem using idiot pawn-puppet entertainers to promote this negative irresponsible behavior. They so love to use entertainers as we are the bunch who have the limelight and audiences. They so love to use “ghetto” ass rappers and “simple-minded” singers to perpetuate these images as they lust for money in the today and don’t think about the trail of negativity for a society of tomorrow.
Disagree all you want but the level of disrespect towards women has dwindled to an all time high. To the adults reading this we may all be out of school, but I can GUARANTEE I know exactly what is happening in school grades 4 and up between young girls and boys especially those who are not being guided to truly understand the value of life and themself, which are many.. Take some time talking to school tecahers and listen to the stories of 3rd grade kids having sex in closets, of girls being sexually abused and almost raped in schools nationwide in just about every grade level.
If we don’t start analyzing what we are contributing to by being too caught up in our own little bubbles we will have alot of HARD HARD work to try and reconcile this problem. Right now I am working on this documentary about sex trafficking in the United States and every official person interviewed says that this crime of sex trafficking, sex tourism, child exploitation all of it stems from ABUSE and here it is we are living in a time where we in the entertainment industry are being used to spread the very seed that promotes this abuse from happening.
It is so simple.. give a little boy a tv and a music video where a women has a credit card swiped in between her ass cheeks a la Nelly’s Tip Drill Music video and then keep feeding him those images with no guidance and bam you have someone who sees women the same way a trafficker sees them…this is so obvious and true. At the same time you can condition a young girl the same way. It’s easy to teach her the only way she is worth something in this new media based society is when she’s willing to show her ass, her tits, or be focused on herself in the most external way possible. Of course if she does this then she can get all the “things” she needs. This is the fault of every celebrity willing to sell out the society for some money when corporate america says bitch jump and they jump and bark like a good little dog.
I often wonder if these female celebrities are so fucking shallow that they can’t realize what dangerous situations and social limitations they create for the future young women of the world, by offering them the visual advice they do, in songs, television programs and magazines.
Yea, these artist or groups may have success and be “blessed” with good fortune but the damage that is happening now is far greater than the little moments they have in the hood. Yea 3-6 mafia gave to little children in the hood a chance to hold an Oscar but for what purpose did they have that oscar to begin with. Just as much as that child can go home empowered by touching something they may never have dreamed of the message still remains that this group received it by creating a song about pimping women.
Media has lost its fucking mind! The after shock for what we’re allowing will be truly to tremendous to even grapple with if we don’t start looking from the oustide in.
I saw this same phenoma happening when I was growing up. First it was corporate controlled gangster rap, and I watched how me and every kid in the hood become very violent (which this violence later trickled to surburban white america then suddenly everyone tried to stop it- but the corporate germ which was only supposed to spread violence in inner-city neighborhoods couldn’t be stopped from spreading externally) and started acting differently.. talking differently. I started to see friends of mine getting stabbed from the scalp to their necks. Watched friends put hammers in other kids Skulls and I also watched how I became a part of it even with good parenting and great mentors around me, because I was still an impressionable child as all kids are and thank god for those parents and mentors because through their initial guidance in my life I was able to recoil myself back into the foundation of what and who I really was. In those years I witnessed myself being a part of the “hype” degrading women, feeling less inclined to respect them and watching the young girls giving me more and more reason to do so as they started to have less respect for themselves and us as boys as well.
You all have no idea the shit that I have seen men do to women in night clubs as I worked as a bouncer. You have no idea the shit that I see women allow to happen. For all those people that say media doesn’t influence this behaviour you are so wrong. Children follow everything that people do on tv, from the way celebrities dress, talk, and act. Moreover kids are so impressionable that’s amajor reason to why there are millions of them being trafficked and exploited around the world right now for sex! They believe the hype of America, the hype of money’s value over their own, and the loving words of a pimp, trafficker.
I have been a bouncer and seen women in nightclubs get bottles thrown at them by guys when they say no they don’t want to dance. I have seen women, smacked, grabbbed, pulled, and groped in nightclubs, as they walk. This kind of shit never happened before, not like this. Not to this degree of disrespect.
For all the women that bitch about being single and alone now, imagine what the world will like be for your daughters dating if you keep allowing this bullshit behaviour to exist… seriously, Who is teaching chilvary? The absentee father? The overworked single mother? The underpaid over worked school teacher? The money lustful rapper? Or the hell on a high horse corporations? What will any boy growing up in this world think about women when he is devoid of anyone to teach him better?
I may have taken part in being a player growing up but never ever did i step into it with such cruel intentions- it was through a young mindset of fullfilling my ego which I still had no control over, which I would dare to say was a part of my maturation as I grew up bombarded with visuals and peer based experiences that made me think that the more girls I had the cooler I was (took me years to get that crap out of my head) today this is not ego gratification- this is all part of a big bubble of materilism, sexism, and all out loss of moral.
We all think it’s cute listening to little kids sing these songs thinking they don’t understand, but they understand everything. The energy behind this music, these websites, these visual representations of man and woman’s behaviour towards each other stick inside their subconscious and unfortunately many of these young kids will not have the proper guidance to teach them true value of each other, themself, and life.
When I was in NY recently I was reminded of what it was like to hear 13 year old girls on the train talk about having guys not lick their pussy as one girl exclaimed to her girlfriend with an attitude as if this was their regular conversation throughout the week on the train. I remember distinctly as she gave me and the other passengers a look as we looked up at her as if she was talking about nothing insignificant. This was all over New York and it’s all over the country… the world.. and the stem of it is our country.. our media.. our sensationalism. Lttle girls right now in the US, Eastern Europe, Africa, South America, everywhere is trying to look like some female singer in the US, listening, watching, and being everything that they see on MTV. So many little boys are growing up doing the same, and learning how to be less loving, towards themselves, life and women through everything that we allow to come out of our entertainment industry.
So many Americans are worked and sucked dry then left to live unheallthy lifetsyles so that we don’t have the power to see through the veil of crap and fight against what we know is wrong. We are don’t get the opportunity to travel to see what the affect is that we have on the world.. it is so enormous and so troubling when you do witness it.. and we don’t even see outside of our own little bubble that we exist in to see the kids in our own neighborhoods and how they are reacting to our own spewed germ of materialism, sexism, and lowered life meaning.
I have to say it again- so many women bitch about being single and say that men are shit- I hear this from everytype of woman, well why do you think you’re not getting your criteria’s met from men nowadays… well why do you think? The generation of men now grew up listening to what? Watching what? Living what? Now just imagine the next generations coming up of girls and boys.. the next ten years what will relationship be like for them? What will disease be like then? What will birth rates be like then? What wil child exploitation and sex trafficking be like then? What will kidnappings and pedophilia be like then? What will abortions be like then? WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Every thing has a cause and an effect, just like so many things, we are providing the most clear obvious return effect that we can start to stop RIGHT NOW by not allowing corpoarte america to bombard us with these images of such negativity!
America stop being so afraid to agree with that inner voice in you when you see something and you know its not right.. I know some of this jusic, some of thgese shows, some ofhis enetertainment is so simple that it’s catchy but there is not enough balance to allow this type of media to exist right now. We must get back to a better foundation of healthier programming first. A better start point of guidance for so many lost children and adults. Then these types of music will become more insignificant and less detrimental to society.
The more simple we are, the more surface we become, the easier we are to persuade. the easier it becomes to pass laws that strip us of rights. The more we take pictures of our asses and post them on websites just to appear in some puppet rappers music video, the more we focus on paris Hilton’s ever shrinking brain, the more we focus on what celebrity is having their tenth divorce the less inclined we are to see how we as a society are being duped, lied to, and manipulated.
Let’s work to stop this exploitation of art to help kill the mental and moral strength of such a strong society. Its so simple stop buying from these corporations. Turn off the radio station when this crap comes on. Boycott. Write letters. Do films. Do music. Do something. Take action against this crap if you see where I am coming from, Even a small step is still a step!

  11. In April 2006, Hugh Hefner turned 80 years old. The pimpmeister with his twenty-something year-old girls in tow, celebrated by playing the song, It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp. How appropriate

  12. pah! i’m not surprised. hefner, you know that “feminist” man, was always a jerk–pimp, john, pornographer, rapist, borderline pedophile and so on.

  13. Don’t have but a minute but I am in total support and agreement with what Melissa and most others have posted here. Where is the outrage? THis is absolutely unconscionable and I am not going to stand for it!
    Love this site!

  14. When Hollywood has not been actively promoting prostitution, they usually romanticize it. This for at least the last 50 years. Totally agree with Nikki’ s comments, but the only new thing is how much more crass it gets. Whoda thunk it?
It would be totally appropriate for evryone involved in promoting as well as using prostitution could get a good taste of it from the other side. And, yes, then die. But it ain’t gonna happen. In the meantime, lets make every effort count to drive these rats back in their holes.

  15. God do I hate thos f’ pimps. How long do we have to wait till our rights as human beings are even being noticed.
Karma hits back. These fuckig pimps and the human traffickers will be reborn as a Dollar bill. I don’t want them to be reborn as a pig and be laightered. Pigs are too nice of an animal to be slaughtered. We should open a slaughterhouse for pimps and feed their remains to the crocodiles. Ah, guess that would be wrong but hurting and killing bitches is ok.
Nobody will ever know how many of us have died and nobody knows.
    Does anybody care?

  16. Well, my apologies to Lady Angry. Maybe I was too soft on the pimps…
I hope I care as do these others that write in. But sayingit, though meaningful, is not enough. Let me showit to you by my actions.

  17. You know.. These comments are extremely one-sided and rather sexist. I’m a woman, and a prostitute, and I don’t quite have the man-hate (or pimp-hate) that you all seem to have.
I support prostitution, and those who are comfortable being sex workers, as well as those who are successful and compassionate “pimps” (I prefer the term “manager” myself, it’s less racist and less ignorantly derogative).
What I don’t support is closed-eyed prejudice. It’s like you all honestly think pimps are lazy jerks who are incapable of positive emotional responses, they live to screw prostitutes over, they’re not socially or economically disadvantaged.. yada yada. Yeah. Judging by each and every one of the above comments, ALL pimps are ALL worthless pieces of scum and ALL they live for is to screw ALL prostitutes over.
When I happen upon a site where there is only point of view being expressed, and reinforced, it reminds me of Nazi Germany.
Basically, my point is, men are oppressed too. Pimps, which are just as often female in my experience as they are male, are also oppressed. Everyone’s oppressed. It creates divisions when one side pits themselves against another, and divisions create wars. And wars, as you should know, do not solve problems.
    ’nuff said.
    Peace.

  18. Holy crap. I’m just seeing Lily’s comment. Is she sane? Seriously.
We remind you of Nazis because we don’t like pimps?!? Well, pardon me. And I thought being against misogyny and men living off of women’s abuse was a bad thing. How wrong I must be. I really must go tell WHISPER, this website, CATW, Sheila Jeffreys, Christine Stark, and a plethora of others that they are quite mistaken. I’ll be sure to get on that.

  19. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
