"Women sell sex because they have to, not because they want to"

Ruhama, a Dublin-based NGO, is running a radio and poster campaign to raise awareness about the harms to women in prostitution.

The image represents women, who may be any age, ethnicity or nationality, whose worth is being reduced to their commercialization for sex. It is designed to contradict images that glamorize and normalize prostitution and to shed light on the fact that women in prostitution become no more than a commodity to the buyer.

Established in 1989, Ruhama works with women who have been affected by prostitution and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation. They provide support to women to help them exit prostitution and once they have exited prostitution, raise awareness, and work to influence policy in the field.
